Index van vogel en persoonsnamen bij de nieuwe schilderingen in de entree van Herengracht 40

Shortly after installation of the paintings, the owners of the house came up with the idea of publishing a book on this project.  One of the first things that came to mind regarding this publication were the silhouette illustrations on the inside covers of my fathers 1958 birdbook. Using these boyhood favourites as a model, I drew up an inventory of all the birds, persons and historical details on these paintings.
In line with the subject matter of the house, I did not only include the Dutch and scientific names of the birds, but also the French and - in case of the "De Handel Mij"  painting - the Indonesian.

Kort na installatie van de Herengracht-schilderingen stelden de bewoners van het huis voor om een publicatie over het project samen te stellen. Het eerste wat mij in dit verband opkwam waren de silhouette illustraties in mijn vaders uit 1958 stammende vogelgids. Met deze afbeeldingen voor ogen stelde ik een index samen van alle vogels, personen en historische details op de vijf werken.

In lijn met de geschiedenis van het huis nam ik hierin niet alleen de Nederlandsche en wetenschappelijke namen op maar ook de Franse en - in geval van "De Handel Mij" - de Indonesische.
